Brisbane Open Women’s One Day Competition (Rebecca McCoombes Cup)

  • Format: 35-over matches, played Sunday mornings (typically 9.30am starts)

  • Purpose: Designed for players from community and premier clubs who are not selected for women’s grade cricket in a given week, or who are ineligible for the Brisbane Stage 3 Girls Competition​

​

  • Eligibility: Open Grade

Brisbane Open Women’s T20 Competition (Kirsten Pike Plate)

  • Format: T20 matches played under lights, mainly on Monday nights, with some fixtures on Friday or Saturday evenings.

​

  • Purpose: Suitable for open-age players seeking a shorter, less competitive format, those developing skills, or players on a pathway to the Brisbane Open Women’s One Day Competition or Grade cricket. It also offers an additional playing opportunity for those playing in the One Day competition to get in a second game during the week if they wish.

  • Eligibility: Open Grade

Girls Playing Cricket

Brisbane Stage 3 Girls Competition (Harris Shield)

  • Format: 9-a-side matches, with a mix of 20-over and 30-over games. Fixtures will be scheduled primarily on Saturday mornings or evenings, with some Friday night games if agreed by both teams.

  • Purpose: A development-focused competition supporting the transition from junior to senior cricket. It forms a pathway into Paul Pink Shield, women’s grade cricket, and the Brisbane Open Women’s One Day and T20 competitions.

​

  • Eligibility: Under 14 (as per QJC guidelines) Note: Clubs are encouraged to apply for exemptions for players who align with the intent of the Stage 3 competition but do not meet age eligibility. Guidance is provided in the section below.

​

  • Friday Night Fixture Preferences: Clubs should nominate Friday night as a preferred match time in the ‘Team Nomination Form’. Where preferences align and travel is reasonable, Saturday fixtures may be moved to Friday evenings.
